    Altie Slimp 1896-1966 San Antonio Artist

    Altie Slimp (Mrs. Horace Bryant Slimp). 1896-1966. San Antonio Painter.
         Slimp, who was born in Coleman, resided in San Antonio by 1913.  She Studied  at the Robert Brackman Art School in Noank, Connecticut.  Her portraits and still-life paintings received favorable comment in the May 1950 issue of La Revue Moderne, Paris, which discussed several American artist.  The San Antonio Express News named Slimp Woman of the Year in 1958.  Slimp died in San Antonio.  She and Helen Slimp were married to brothers.
           Exhibitions:  River Art Group,  San Antonio (1948-50);  Coppini  Academy of Fine Arts, San Antonio (1952, 1954, 1956).
           Affiliations:  Coppini Academy of Fine Arts, San Antonio; Texas Fine Arts Association.
