Charlotte Curry – Artist Biography
Charlotte Curry is a predominantly landscape artist whose work captures the rugged beauty of the Southwest, with a special affinity for the Texas Hill Country Born in San Antonio, Texas, she developed a deep love for the region’s natural scenery during her formative years, often recalling Sunday family drives that inspired many of her paintings
Training and Influences
Curry’s artistic training includes extensive work with professional artists through the Cowboy Artists of America Museum, where she studied under William Moyers, Gary Carter, James Boren, Robert Pummill, Jack Swanson, and Bob Wygant, among others. She has also participated in multiple workshops, including the CA 10 program, and continues to challenge her skills to achieve excellence.
Artistic Style and Process
She works primarily in oil, valuing the medium’s ability to convey depth and richness. Curry creates her paintings either on location, from sketches, combined reference photos, or from imagination, her subjects range from the dramatic canyons and cactus landscapes of the Southwest to the serene Hill Country vistas she holds closest to her heart
Career and Exhibitions
For many years, Curry has been a gallery artist, exhibiting in gallery shows, international juried competitions, and museum-invitational exhibitions. Her works have been featured in one-woman and group shows, and she has participated in eight Cowboy Artists of America workshops. She shares her expertise through private lessons and workshops across Texas, including a notable three-day oil painting workshop at the Museum of Western Art in Kerrville.
