In 1968, she was honored at the State Fair of Texas with a Josephine Mahaffey Day. The same year, she received the President's Award from the Composers, Authors and Artists of America for 50 years of service. She loved life and could finish a painting in under 15 minutes. Her kids all remember her painting on anything that wasn't nailed down - cardboard, wrapping, backs of Christmas Cards and of course her serious work. Her art has been exhibited at the Corcoran Gallery, Washington DC, Fort Worth Art Center and the Heritage Hall, Fort Worth
